Policies and Procedures

Parking: You may park in front of my house when dropping off or picking up your child. When picking up your child, please wait in your car or outside the door. When class is over for the day we will walk out to the cars together. Having parents come inside before we have finished the activities for the day can be somewhat disruptive.  Please inform me in advance in writing if someone other than originally authorized will be picking up your child.

Communication: Each child will be given a folder to send notes, art projects and newsletters home.  This folder needs to be returned each school day. The parent newsletter will communicate the curriculum theme, projects, special events, and important notices concerning our program. Parents may also use the folder to send messages to me.

Supplies: Please send a change of clothes with your child including underpants and socks. These will be kept at school throughout the year and will be used only if necessary.

Show and Tell: Every Thursday a selected student will have the opportunity to bring an item for show and tell.

Illnesses: Colds, flu and other contagious diseases seem to occur frequently and spread easily among preschool children. To help protect your own child's health and to minimize the possibility of contagion at school, please keep your child at home if you observe any of the following symptoms (nasal discharge that is green or yellow, complaints of ear pain, productive cough, severe sore throat, eyes that are pink, burning or itching or producing discharge, diarrhea or vomiting or fever).

Snacks: Snacks served in the preschool will be nutritious and well-balanced. Please let me know if your child has any food allergies.

Clothing: It is best that your child wear clothes that are casual and are easy to clean. We have a variety of activities that involve movement and messy materials (paint, sand, play dough, etc.) I will do my best to protect clothing, but accidents may occur.

Positive Behavior: I focus more attention on positive behavior than on inappropriate behavior. If a student is "caught being good" his or her name will go in "Wally the Whale." I will be on the lookout for for students helping others appropriately, following rules, listening and following instructions, sharing, doing one's best, among other commendable behavior.  At the end of the week, students will get to pick from the treasure box if they have at least five names in the whale.

Consequences
First offense -- A verbal warning will be given if an inappropriate behavior is demonstrated.
Second offense -- A second verbal warning will be given.
Third offense -- The child will spend three minutes in the thinking chair and a note will go home.
